I have been searching Google for days on end and I am finally way beyond the end of my tether with this.

It's a fairly common problem from what I've seen, everything works fine except from popups where Joomla clearly isn't passing session info over to Gallery and up pops the error "init.php: Gallery seems to be inside Mambo, but we couldn't get the necessary info."

Naturally everyones suggestion is "your gallery config doesn't include the www. subdomain". Rest assured everything in the config is perfect, everything in both Joomla and Gallery matches. If anyone suggests this I will explode!

I'm also running SMF 1.1 RC1 using the JoomlaHacks.com SMF bridge, I get the strange feeling that the way it has patched the Joomla index.php is somehow inducing the problem but I don't see how, just a hunch

Anyone who can help me with this is welcome to my first born for you are my saviour. Thanks guys

Should probably add slightly more specifics on software versions:

Apache 2.0.55 with PHP 4.4.1, Joomla 1.0.5 with SMF 1.1RC1 and Joomlahacks.com bridge. Installed Gallery 1.5.1 with the CVS Joomla module

ie. everything is latest stable versions!

Any help appreciated :(

Hi, I have Gallery1.4.4 and just updated my Mambo to Joomla. Integration in my Mambo site was fine, even the RSS feed from my Gallery, now that I have Joomla, it's not showing up at all in Joomla. Is there a new plugin?? (I don't really plan on updating my Gallery to 2, I tried once and lost all my albums.)

Exactly the same problem for me. I still have a working version of Gallery 1.4 integrated with Mambo which works great, it just seems to be Joomla with Gallery 1.5 :(

I got it to work.. dont ask how.

Quote:
This a description what you have to do to integrate Gallery 1.5.2+ into joomla 1.0.2

- Install Joomla

- Install Gallery

- Go to the Joomla 'Installers' and "install" Gallery as a Joomla component.
Enter the directory that has the gallery.xml file in it
(eg. /home/mysite/public_html/gallery/contrib/joomla)

- Go into the component/gallery backend and fill in the location of the gallery component
(eg. /home/mysite/public_html/gallery)

- Specify the minimum Joomla admin level required to gain editor access to the gallery

- Edit your main menu and add a new Component item. Select Gallery from the list of available components.
Mambo should do all the work of generating the link for you.

Note: Gallery will use the Language corresponding to the Country Locale specified by Joomla.

So I Am curious.... then can your users access the gallery from joomla AND from the SMF forums? OR do they only access it from Joomla?

Ideally, I'd like to have a link in everyone's profile in my SMF forum that would allow them to have images of their video game collections and what-not... which wouldn't be too hard to add.... I am just wondering with the logins with Joomla and SMF.

Did anyone else have problems doing this *before I try* I am on SMF 1.0.6. I won't go to the new 1.1 until there is a solid gold release.

Thanks

I'll try explain it best I can...

Basically I've got Joomla set up as the core... within that we have SMF 1.1 RC2 bridged using the joomla-hacks.com bridge. I think the problem may lie in the fact that for the bridge to work it has to modify the Joomla index.php and add some code

Then from there... I am trying to also integrate Gallery into Joomla using the built in Joomla module that comes with Gallery. I had it working perfectly with Mambo 4.5 and Gallery 1.4 but unfortunately now I permanently get the init.php error message. I was able to get it to work for a matter of minutes at one point before it spontanously broke again, it's a very frustrating bug!
