OK, I did my homework: searched through features and forums, read multiple comments. I am aware of weaknesses related to inability to download movies, or to be able to differentiate folders with videos from other folders by folder appearance, or by inability of many users to playback uploaded video files because they are embedded. Still, the complete answer eludes me.

To what extend are video files supported in G2?
What is best video format to upload?
What is the maximum size of a single video file?

Thank you for this wonderful product and for your support.

supported file types:

http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Features#Supported_MIME_Types

there's now also a mplayer module (http://codex.gallery2.org/ -> user contributions) which supports windows media 9 and other formats.

there seems to be a problem with AVI files. but else it should work.

Thank you for your information. But... I can't seem to find a link to mplayer module on that page. Also, it appears that my host doesn't have FFMPEG installed on their server. Is this something i can download and install on my own?

Thanks!
