I have a suggestion to implement into gallery 2x.
Make slideshow views count as views on the view counter that is located under each pic.
Most of my viewers like the slideshow and thats all they use. I can upload a batch of photos and it will look like nobody looked at them, yet everyone is talkin about it in my fourms.

That's a good idea.

The problem with it up till now is that we do the slideshow in javascript so we haven't been sending a request to the server for it to update view counts. I'll see what we can do when we write the slideshow module for G2.

Bharat,

The slideshow in Gallery is great! I just spent the past three days looking at different server-based image galleries and one of the main reasons I want to go with Gallery is the slideshow.

After using the slideshow, viewing images the regular way is a big letdown, so I wonder why not make the standard viewer use the same Javascript where possible?

It would be so nice to be able to flip images manually without the whole page updating...

I agree.
Being able to mass-select a whole bunch of images and perform the same function on them is a major time saver :smile: I'm talking mass-rotation mainly but it applies to a load of different image functions (hide, move, delete). I've always had to rotate my images in acdsee before uploading to Gallery.

Trouble, I really agree with you here, although I think this should be in a different thread. It would be a great option for G2 to be able to perform all image operations on as many images as one would like to select.

I agree with Kommercial. I think a slideshow should increase the hit counter of each picture. I believe many of my users use this option and also for me had been an important feature when choosing to use Gallery on my site.

I will see if I can produce some hack for Gallery 1.3.4. If so, I will post it in a new thread.

Does there already exist such a hack now?
I think it's also important, that the slideshow stops automatically at the end! Otherwise it will count and count and count...

the user experience is more important than the view counter. if the user wants to loop, let it loop.

It would be nice to be able to select sub-albums as part of the slide-show as well.

and on a somewhat related topic, i think the 'apply to sub-albums' is one big thing missing from the admin side of g2, for things like thumb-nail sizes...
