Navigation back to the tumbnails display

The navigation away from a single picture display back to the thumbnails display is not very intuitive, is it?

I've observed several users having problems when they want to "close" a picture, after a click on a thumbnail. (The quickest and best method anyway, is the brower's back button here ... - but this is often regarded as the "last way out".) The "Gallery" link in the upper left corner is very hard to find...

Would it be an idea to incorporte a link called "Thumbnails" in the left column, above the "View Slideshow" link? Or, even better, to incorporate a "Close" button at the bottom or to the right of the single pictures?

i cant follow you.

It seems you have the "return to" link navigation disabled.
Would turning this feature on solve your issue ?

Sounds good Im using Gallery 2. Can't find the option you're suggesting

Seems like the conclusion is that this option is not available in G2, then? (Sorry for the misposting)

Does someone has an answer to this issue? Would be great if someone can tell me (us) how to make a link back to thumbnail view.

depends what theme you're using. in some themes the navigation is more intuitive / obvious than in others...

I want to use the Matrix-Theme but with some little changes like the link back to the thumbnail view without using the breadcrumb or using the bredcrum which shows only the level back to the thumbnails but then i have to implement the breadcrumb two times (i think this is much more work and nobody hast posted something to my question about using the breadcrumb two times in one theme)
