I know it is a little premature to drop support for G1, but wouldn't it be wise to drop the updates and all the team work that goes into it. If so, the people on that project can start to think about the future. Don't misunderstand me here. I think that Gallery progresses at a great rate, I can just see it going much faster, or giving people less work, if the team concentrates on the future and encourages people to do the same.
Just my thoughts.

Well, as it happens most of the developers are working solely on G2. Some of the team still wants to improve in G1 and uses their time as they see fit. That might change, but currently thats what the status is.
As for dropping support, do you have any idea how many G1 installs are out there? We don't, but i'm pretty confident that it's more than 10 ;-)

Hello oojacoboo,
what is your suggestion at all ?
You think G1 is not worth beeing continued. Yes i read your post at all.
Where did you get the info how much people work on G1 and how much on G2 and how much on ...whatever?
_i_ suggest you could contribute to the any of our product and help us to make it better.
If you have special ideas, just tell them. Dont understand me wrong, but i think your statement is unqualified and a bromide.
Regards,
Jens

well great. Again, someone reading into it too far! I never compared, never said its not worth being continued. Just saying what I said, which was that things should move forward, no more updates. Slowly start to convert everyone. And obviously I don't have stats, but the fact that G1 has received updates other than minor bug fixes is what I am talking about.

Nothing great.
I just read what you wrote.
Its also not true that G1 get no features. Just read the Changelog of Gallery 1.5.1 and 1.5.2-cvs
