What is the initial guest password for Gallery2? And how can i change it?

I installed Gallery2 and it is working good.

I can login as admin and changed the password.

I wanted to create a userid, which G2 does not allow.
I wanted to delete the guest account which again G2 does not allow.

So i thought i'll login as guest to see what they can see in my gallery, and I'm unable to login, as I do not know the initial guest user's password.

What is the initial guest user's password after installation?

I tried blank, guest, admin and it will not work? Is there anything else as default guest password? Please let me know.

Also how can I change the password for Guest while logged in as admin?

I guess I'll be able to change the password of guest after logging in as guest.

Any help in this regards is much appreciated.

heh, the guest user is the user for all not logged in users. thus, it has no password and you can;t login as guest.

logout from g2 and you see what guests / anonymous users of your website can see.

Thanks Valiant. At least now I know what the guest user means. So how can I create a user who should login to see my photos/albums, rather than guest/anonymous user.

I want it to be secure, basically allowing only family/friends of mine to see our family photos.

Site Admin > Users

Then at the top album, click on Edit Permissions and add the Registred Users group to have the same permissions as the Everyone group, then remove the Everyone group from all permissions.

I don't quite understand. What's the purpose of the guest user then? Is guest user a user who cannot see the site at all since it has no password? In this case, it's not a user of the site. Then why not just take this guest user out of the system totally?

I believe this guest user confuses a lot of people.

I thought people can log in as guest user without password. And they can only see the public part of the gallery (created somewhere somehow).

please read: docs -> quick start guide.
all visitors of your gallery are guest users by default.
once they login, they're recognized as a unique user.

what a guest user can do and what not is entirely up to you. you can set permissions. again, see: docs -> quick start guide.
