I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas for an alternative video embed to ffmpeg as my Hosting company won't install the binaries because:

Unfortunately we're concerned that the compression process and file generation that the binaries can process could create high loads on the server. Under normal circumstances this would be acceptable, but as this server will be hosting a number of accounts it may cause a problem if numerous scripts and processes are running at the same time.
There was an "embedded movie mod" for G1 so wondered if someone might have some ideas as i dont want to move hosts again as i've just moved 3 times in as many months and the install was sweet as otherwise! lovin the G2 by the way!

if you just want to upload movies you don't need ffmpeg.. ffmpeg will allow you to get thumbnails generated from the movie itself. add in thumbpage module and you can pick the time offset for that thumbnail.
but really, if your host won't let you just install ffmpeg yourself and use it, that's not a great host.

Yeah not the best in this case but they have been good for other parts.
Is it still possible to embed movies tho as at the moment they only show as a download option where as i would like them to be viewed on line?

the other thing ffmpeg does for you is determine the dimensions of movies automatically.
without ffmpeg, after you upload a movie click 'edit movie', pick the movie tab and enter the dimensions. G2 needs the dimensions for inline display.

Thanks for that!
I'm not so fussed at the moment about the FFMpeg as i only have a few vids to show and making a quick thumbnail is not a problem.
lovin the G2 tho!
