G2 is awesome. I want to put together a site with G2 with some kinda forum and blog integrated together. i was looking at mambo and drupal, but not sure if i need CMS since they don't really have any good blog. b2evolution looks awesome so i may go with that but doesn't look like a way to embed G2 with b2evo for blog. i haven't looked at any forums yet.

I have a windows 2003 server, IIS6. Does anyone have any recommendation besides getting a unix server?

Thanks!

a recommendation? what about changing to linux (ha, it's not unix! :)).

i haven't yet played with mambo or drupal, but from what i hear, drupal is *made* for blogging. maybe take a look at some sample drupal blogs, linked on drupal.org. mambo/joomla has the better G2 integration right now and dedicated g2/mambo developers.
the forum of drupal isn't great, don't know the one from mambo.

Mambo has a pretty good blogger Mamblog. There is even a mambot out there that allows you to e-mail blogs to your website. What specific blogging features are you looking for?

for blogging, i need a blog for each of my user. and they need to have option to make it public, or private to only other users on the site, or private to users they specify, or private to only them. need to be able to upload pics of course. would be nice to have an easy to use wysiwig editor. each user can have their own themes and modify their background, etc. something like xanga is pretty cool, so far the closest i could find is b2evo but can't integrate it.

Mambo with mamblog and fckeditor does all of that except...

Making private to users they specify
Modify their background

Check out http://dev.4theweb.nl/

This is the website of the guy that developed the mambo integration. He has a forum on there, I think it's called simpleboard.

I try to answer the mambo/g2 and some customization questions that I know. Mainly because I run Mambo with G2 on 2 different sites and have built a few custom themes and colorpacks. :)
