comments??

How can I have visitors post comments without have to register?

Give the Everybody group permission for comments. At your top level album (main.php), click Edit Permissions, then add the Everybody group and select what types of comment permissions you want them to have.

Gallery version = 2.0-rc-1 core 0.9.34
PHP version = 4.3.11 cgi-fcgi
Webserver = Apache/1.3.33
Database = mysql 4.0.24-log
Toolkits = ArchiveUpload, Exif, ImageMagick, NetPBM, Gd
Operating system = FreeBSD 4.11

By default the permissions are set to propigate to all sub-items. So they should all have those permissions if you did this at the main album (main.php)
