if i have set an album to have a manual sort order, how do i get the new sub-albums to be at the beginning of the album w/o having to manually change it every time. when i add a sub album, it is added to the end of the album by default.
is this possible? am i overlooking something that is staring me in the face?
thanks.

what about sort by creation date, descending, albums first presort?

else, as it says, is the album sorted manually...

you'd have to add a new sort order to allow manual sorting AND presorts (albums first).

valiant, thanks for the quick response, and that does makes sense...

my problem is, i like my sub-albums sorted chronologically (desc), but my "albums" were created out of order.

does that make sense?

should i delete all my albums and re-create them in the order i want? (btw, this would take some time, i'd rather not)

any other ideas?

use the rearrange module. activate it, click on rearrange in the sidebar.
it's a quite efficient way to manually sort your albums.

yeah, that's what i've been doing...

in reality, it isn't that bad at all. i was just looking for the 'easy way out.'

in retrospect, i guess i was just being lazy. thanks for the help.

someday we may add a selector like G1 for "add new items to beginning".
another alternative in the meantime: sort by origination date.. you can set this date for albums in "edit album" / General tab, to get them to sort as you like. For any new albums you create the origination date defaults to creation date.

So when adding a new picture to an album, you don't have the option of "adding it to the beginning" correct?
bummer if so, what a pain.

Will this be added soon?

it's easy to set a sort order such that new items appear first.. one such method described above.

you can check if such a feature request has been filed and vote for it, else file a new request.

Any word on this? I would also LOVVVEE an option for "add to the beginning of album" especially
in Gallery Remote. I remember never having problems with G1 in this area. Wierd.

blw91126 and Jester2000,

This is very easy to achieve! You simply select the sort by origination / creation date, descending. I like the pre-sort set to albums. Now, every item you add will be first because its origination (or creation) date is newest! Unless you have a very good reason for using the Manual sort order, this works very well.

This feature won't be added until someone who cares enough about it goes and does it. It probably isn't *that* hard for someone who understand the G2 code, and as mindless says you'll get plenty of help from the dev team if you decide to have a go at it.

Fryfrog,

But this option will option will sort the current existing album correct? I have about 450 photos that I don't want sorted. Just the new ones I add to be added to the beginning.
