Alternative import method? G1 albums -> G2 albums

Is there any other way to import G1 albums into G2? The reason i ask... I have a large photo repository that im tring to import into G2. Having to input 1 album at a time will take forever... Ontop of that, the majority of the albums hang durning import as described in these 2 threads: http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=34122 Thanks in advance. |

Isn't really an alternative at this point, maybe just do a few albums at a time .. and make sure your memory limit is high enough (24MB+) .. it may take awhile, but once everything is in G2, it is so worth it.

I've bumped my memory up to 124megs, with no avail. Ontop of that, ive tried importing 1 album at a time, but the importer just hangs... (most of my albums have 5-10 sub albums, with hundreds of photos...)
Suggestions?

disable the generate thumbs during upgrade and uninstall the g2 exif module, then try it again.
and are you sure the memory limit is the problem? maybe a specific g1 album / item is corrupt.

having just imported 55,000 photos from g1 to g2, i figured i could at least add to this discussion...
the only times the importer would hang for me would be specific albums where photos were missing... running the g1 validate albums admin option identifies these problem photos and lets you delete them before importing into g2
otherwise, i followed the other bits of advice about upgrading g1, doin 30-40 albums at a time, unchecking create thumbs at import, etc and its gone (amazingly) well
