Server will not accept file ".htaccess"

My server says: "Please make sure that the file you are trying to upload doesn't contain any special characters, symbols, or spaces within the file name. File names can only contain upper- or lowercase letters, numbers, underscores, dashes, and periods, and cannot begin with a period." Obviously, this is causing problems with uploading the file ".htaccess", so I'm wondering if there is an alternative file I can use or if I should just look for another software. Since this was the first task in installing Gallery onto my server, I have yet to install the other files. I've already tried renaming the file & changing it back when it was uploaded onto my server, but I was denied. ---- |
