A Log-in Page?

I want to make the link to Gallery a log-in page instead of the gallery template. (only logged in users see anything). I tried it by going to http://www.yoursite.net/gallery/login.php which looks good and actually logs you in, but the page will not forward to the albums. Is there some code I could put in there so it forwards to the albums? As of now, you log-in and it reloads the same /login.php page and the password field becomes blank. Then you have to go to http://www.yoursite.net/gallery to see anything. You will find that you are logged in. Thanks for the insight, you rock!
