Where have the layouts gone in this version? I really really liked the one I was using in beta 3, and I don't see any way to change them at all for beta 4.... :(

in beta 3, we had layouts, themes and templates.
this was replaced by a simpler architecture, simpler to customize etc.

now you can switch the themes (old layouts+themes were merged into the new theme system).
site admin -> themes.

I'm upset now... I REALLY liked the Siriux layout, and there doesn't seem to be anything similar to it in Flippin' Sweet.

Is there any place I can GOOD instructions on how to create my own theme?

Ok, that document helped, except that any changes I make in the theme.css file don't seem to take! I've set all types of different background-color: codes to be black, and nothing seems to change.

Am I missing something here? *scratches head*

you have to edit the theme.css of the theme that you're actually using...
and maybe you have a colorpack activated that overrides your color changes of theme.css.

hmmmm, I know for a fact I have the correct theme activated (and as default) didn't think about the color pack.

maybe you need to shift / ctrl + F5 refresh your browser. the browser caches css files.

siriux is back, but still needs some polishing.

this is very frustrating, mindless you say "sirius is back' but you don't say where... where is this magic place where we find these themes?

the oly place online i've found any reference to G2 themes is CVS sourceforge, but since i don't use CVS i guess i miss out.

thanks for that valiant.

now on to huskygirl's issue.

customising themes it would seem to me, would be the main topic of this 'G2 customization' forum. so since the codex documentation is incomplete, can we get some tips on where to start here?

i'm scared that noone is going to help when i get really stuck. i'm in the middle of searching the forum for answers right now (with very little luck).

I don't think so..... I've thought of that already. :)

Maybe I can just change the Siriux theme to what I want. :)

Thanks!

Also, I just downloaded the latest nightly version, and the siriux theme is not packed with it.....

EDIT: If you download the latest nightlies, you have to download the one that says beta-4+, not just beta-4

huskysgrl, make sure to download http://galleryupdates.jpmullan.com/G2/gallery-2.0-beta-4+.tar.gz and not beta-4 (without the +).

hehe, thanks I figured that out. I wasn't sure what the difference was.

I'm still having the same problem though. I have changed a WHOLE bunch of different codes to show #000000 instead of #ffffff and #e7e7e7, and they STILL don't work. Some things in the admin panel show differently, with a black background, but honestly I'm very frustrated with this.

I basically want my backgrounds to be DARK in color, not white. My entire website is done in black....
