So far G2 is quite an amazing piece of work, hats of to all involved!

My question is simple enough, where does the default THUMBNAIL size come from, should it not be part of the theme defaults?

Cheers,
Marc

What icon? Are you talking about the thumbnails?

I'm aware of that setting which is good for new albums only.

I have 40+ albums and wanted to change thumbnail sizes system wide, had to change the thumbnail size and check rebuild thumnails manualy on each album to do so.

I would see a default thumbnail size in album defaults that would affect every album if every album was set to use system default size.

Now I'm confused,

What is the difference/machanics/idea between these two settings:

The topmost album does not have 2) and subalbums have both.

1) Edit Album -> Album -> Thumbnails
2) Edit Album -> General-> Thumbnail

Thanks,
Marc

@ 1 ) that sets the size of the thumbnails for your album

Quote:
Every item requires a thumbnail. Set the default size in pixels here.

@ 2 ) that should read Custom Thumbnail ;) It's so you can use a custom thumbnail for the highlight image of the album. You could use a custom, generic or special thumbnail for an album and that image doesn't actually have to exist in the album. Pretty much what it says there ;)

Quote:
Upload a JPEG image to use as the thumbnail for this item.
Image does not need to be thumbnail size; it will be resized as needed.

;)

This is nice because to do that in G1 you had to add the image you wanted to be the thumbnail to the album, then "hide" it. A total PITA and not nearly as visible as to what the heck was going on.

That makes more sense now, thanks.

I'm still trying to figure out the album default setting: Inherit settings from parent album as this appears to only work for new albums and not exisiting ones.

How then does one change all thumbnails to another size? short of changing every album's default thumbnail size which is very time consuming.

Marc

i agree we need for a lot of features / options a "apply to all subitems/albums recursively" checkbox. but someone has to find the time to code it. :)

I have no idea what the implications are but I'd like to suggest moving the
Thumbnail size option from the Album tab to Theme tab, where
one could either use a specified size or checkmark use global.

One could then specify a system wide default in the theme defaults.

Anthing special I should know about doing a Feature Request on source forge?

It's not a theme setting though. I guess that could be argued. It is an album property.

I too would like to see "global", but global should be in Site Admin.

@ feature requests. Put G2 in the subject name, describe your feature as best as you can with examples if needed and a link back to the topic you discussed it or know about here, if applicable ;)
