Customizing Search

I recently installed version 1.5 of Gallery on a site and am working on getting everything converted over to galleries. We have lots of photos on the site - I'm up to almost 1400 photos in albums under Gallery and I'm probably not even 1/2 done. Also, at times we're going to use rather lengthy descriptions on albums since this will contain information about the event in the album. I'm trying to convert over what was HTML pages which included written and pictorial memories all into Gallery so I don't have duplicate areas on the site.

When I do a search since there are so many photos and since the descriptions can be lenghty the list can be very daunting.

Does anyone know if there's been a modification made to the search to:
1) Search only photos and not albums (I think I can make this change fairly easily myself from looking at search.php but if someone has already done it that would be great)
2) Paginate results - This would be a godsend for me so that only 25-30 items showed on a page and then you could go to a next page, etc. (I haven't got a clue on how I would do this one myself)
