greetings,

here's how my gallery is setup:
- a member can register/sign in and create their own album/sub-albums (within their own)
- members cannot edit anyone elses items/albums

here's what i'd like to do:
- i'd like to add a community album so that all of my members can add items/comments etc. and edit/delete THEIR OWN items and comments etc. inside

here's what i've tried:
- i've tried registering an album user as the name of the album i'd like it to be
- i've used my admin account to set permissions... but can't seem to let them add an item and edit it without letting them also edit the entire album

any help would be wonderful :)

I'm pretty sure what you're currently looking for is currently not possible. I don't believe it was in G1 either, not that that makes any difference.

The only reason I mention G1 is because I have an install setup similar to what you're asking. However, we just have to trust everyone not to screw with other ppls photos, albums or the main "user album".

It would be great for G2 to have an "Owner/Creator" permission, much like Windows NTFS permissions. So you could set the permissions so people could 'Add sub-item' and possibly 'Add sub-album', but then set the permissions for the Owner/Creator so they have edit permissions of what they add, but not other people's stuff.

I don't know if there's already a RFE for this and can't check as SourceForge is currently down. Maybe check it later, http://sf.net/projects/gallery/

Well, I did some testing.

If you give the users 'Add sub-item', but remove 'Edit item' permission they can add items, but can't edit them. If you give the users 'Add sub-album' permission they can add an album to that "community" album, and then they can edit that album and do anything they want to that album.

Don't know if this is exactly what you're looking for.

ty so much!

i think users being able to make their own album inside the 'community' album is great for now.

ty again!
