Custom Thumnails?

Okay heres what I want to do.

I have images I created in a table that I hand coded as a static webpage, those images link to the full sized images just like a gallery, the wierd part is those images ARE NOT thumbnails, they are just little portions of the picture. when you put your mouse over the partial images, it turns into a proper thumnail, then when you click into it, it goes to another statically handcoded page with the full sized picture, that last part I can figure out how to hook the gallery into, (I think). This is definitely How I want things to lokk

Is there anyway to make my handcoded page not so static? I want basically to get the same effect as I currently have except I want it to be alot more easy to code.

What I envision, is that when I upload new pictures I will actually upload 2 files, the first will be a normal full sized picture and Gallery will create a thumbnail and place it just like any other, the second will be my notquitea thumnail and that will get put on the following page, with the rollover feature and when you click on it it brings you into a more or less standard gallery.

Can the Gallery Remote Help me do this?
Do I need to learn some PHP to do this?
