Thats pretty easy.
a.) read the docs
or
b.) unpack the tar.gz, inside is a folder called "de_DE" copy this folder into the locale/ folder of gallery. Then rerun the setup.

I tried.
I downloaded the files from sourceforge.net
Then I downloaded a freeware to untar the file.
Then I uploaded the folder fr_FR-1.5 to my website.
And the configuration wizard tells me there is no other language pack...
:'(
Some help ?

Is it a problem of Linux/Windows ?
Cause I think ovh.com have Windows servers, don't they ?
According to that only some minor parts ar missing.
But its easy. download poEdit from sourceforge, edit the two po files and send them to me.
i will do the rest.

I'm going to check if I can/have time to do that and come back here to report.

I think there are some terms missing and I don't know if I can add them just like that.
For example sub-album and top-level albums.

That is what I did and I understood but what I mean is :
should every translatable text already be in the file or can I add as many lines as I want ?

All Text that is translateable is in that files.
Can could add lines, but without any effect.
All translateable text is call via a function inside the code.
_("bla bla bla")
if php finds this then it searches for a translation.
Its not the other way.
What do you think is missing ? (please be as much exact as you can)

I just looked quickly some terms I would like French visitors to read in French.
For example :
First, in French you have to type a blank before AND after : (e.g. Changed : 3 times)
= term # page # location
= top-level albums # /album.php
= hits # /album.php # in the right "sub-albums" column
= this album contains n item # /album.php
= this album contains 1 item # /album.php
= times # / album.php # this album has been visited 2 times
-- Then I don't know the name of the page but it is when you are on album.php, you click on a top-level album that contains some sub-albums. So now you are on the page that displays the sub-albums of the top-level album. (just 1 click after the home page of Gallery)
So, on this page :
= sub-album # top left "1 sub-album and no image in this album"
= items # bottom of sub-albums captions
= times # bottoms of sub-albums captions
-- And then on every album AND sub-album :
= times # caption of every image # Viewed : n times
Despite all this, a French visitor, even a senior, can visit the galleries but it does not look very professional.
I hope I was helpful

This is in the file.
If you are using a recent version of PoEdit (1.3.1 or newer) then you will see tabs at the translation side.
they are for switching between the singular and plural forms.
you wanted the easiest way.... i told you to send me the files and i do the rest...
if you want to do it all on your own then please read the translation related documents in the dev documents section.

You tell me it is in the file.
So it should appear on my site without change anything in these files. But on my site, only certain terms appear and other don't.
If you want, I can send you the files but... they are on sourceforge.org !!!
And I would like to send you the files with the translations but... I am using the poEdit 1.3.2 and the untranslated words don't appear.
Anyway I don't have time anymore but I would like to finish the translation and create my own skin so I will come back.
(don't say "too bad" !! )

nudelfresser,
you dont use tar often, right ?
look inside the fr_FR-1.5.
is there a fr_FR folder ?
use that.
Regards,
Jens

You're right : I don't use it often.
But I think I'm not so stupid.
In the fr_FR-1.5, there isn't any folder ; just a file named fr_FR-gallery_config.po
Is it normal ?
cause It seems not to work with this file. Should I rename it ? Put it in a folder named another way ?...
Thx a lot for your kindful help
(is "kindful" an english word ?

Hi,
then i apology.
Inside the tar should be this:
fr_FR/
|-- LC_MESSAGES
| |-- fr_FR-gallery_config.mo
| `-- fr_FR-gallery_core.mo
|-- flagimage
| `-- fr_FR.gif
|-- fr_FR-Changelog
|-- fr_FR-gallery_config.po
|-- fr_FR-gallery_core.po
`-- fr_FR-nls.php
Maybe something got lost ?
Regards,
Jens

Then perhaps you could check the file that is on the ovh server here :
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gallery/fr_FR-1.5.tar.gz?download
or tell me which software I could use to untar the file, given that I work under Windows XP Family.
thx again

The files are okay. just tested. inside is a fr_FR folder with the content i mentioned above.
i suggest winrar.

It works.
Thank you very much.
But I think the translation isn't complete. Do you think I could finish it without technical knowledge ?
