Anyone know of a way to get search engine friendly URLS? Instead of http://www.chronicfiend.com/index.php?option=com_gallery&Itemid=80&include=albums.php&set_albumListPage=3 somthing like http://www.chronicfiend.com/gallery/albumname/photo ? I have gallery embedded in MAMBO 4.5.2.1, you need a password to see any content of my gallery ... if you can help and want me to pm you a user and pass reply to this post. Thanks he following information is required to get an answer: |

I'm pretty sure this is the functionality provided by mod_rewrite. For example, and as a blatant excuse to post a picture of my daughter, a picture on my gallery can be referenced by the url http://syrinx.sbs.umass.edu/Sarah/Im-two/abq , which is, I believe, what you're after.

I don't think it's possible to use mod_rewrite like that, when embedded. Not 100% sure though, but someone in this forum should be able to verify.

Gallery doesn't support SEF, however there are several user contributed patches in this forum if you do a search.

I dont think mod rewrite will work, especially because mambo is using that for search engine friendly urls... but for some reason the gallery doesn't take the same form as the rest of the mambo urls.

Hi everyone,
I ran into the same problem and decided to find out what the problem is on my own. The other issue is that I've seen another solution and I was not too pleased with it. This way it uses the standard Mambo SEF URL function and all the benefits that come with it. One of the benefits is that it still keeps the admin function popups working. Also any SEF components used with Mambo should still let this work.
This is the patchfile that I came up with:

This is my writeup on the topic to show the details:

Hope this helps some.

There is a solution from LogicX here in the forum.
But there is a problem with the pathway at the moment.
Look here: http://www.hotzeltopf.de/gallery/Doom3/Doom_3_36 for example.
I used the changes made by LogicX.
Best regards

Funny you should mention LogicX and his code. He's a good friend of mine, but his code is what I was referring to when I said that I found code that did not please me. You are correct about his pathway issue, and I'll see if I can work with him now to get one version of the code that works (he's sitting next to me). Thanks for the suggestion though.

I finally found a graceful solution to the SEF problem between Gallery and Mambo by using the Xaneon extensions. I have also fixed the LogicX pathway bug in his patch. The patches and explanation can be found at:
http://www.thegillis.net/programming_papers/php/mambo,_xaneon,_and_gallery_sef_extension.html
This solution can be turned on or off from the admin, and leaves the stand alone gallery able to function on its own.
Hope this helps some.

Are blogspot url's <a rel=follow href="http://easybacklinks.blogspot.com/2007/10/search-engine.html">search engine</a> friendly ?
