Gallery Remote 1.0 crashes if using .htaccess

I am running 1.3.3 on Red Hat 8. If I password protect my gallery directory using either .htaccess or in the httpd.conf file, Gallery Remote freezes completely upon startup. It is such a hard freeze that I have to kill the process (WinXP) to nuke it. I have tried this on a friend's Gallery and he gets the same result. Anyone else? Is there a fix?

I have a set of patches to fix this problem with GalleryRemote. Email me if you are interested in a patched version. I will submit them to the primary developers.

I have same problem with 1.3.1 and redhat 7.2 on XP.
Found that disabling .htaccess quickly will allow remote to get in on it's startup.
Then login, reenable .htaccess, and it will run fine on subsequent logins as long as you don't close remote.
Where can one get ahold of these patches?

I've just integrated the patch today into GR 1.0.1b3, which will appear overnight on the beta site. I'm counting on people on this thread to test it out. If it's OK and I haven't messed up Stanley's patch, I'll publish GR 1.0.1 during the week.

I have the same problem with Gallery Remote in Mac OS X. It opens the window asking for the username and password to get past the protection set with .htaccess and then it just hangs with what some of us Mac users call the "spinning beach ball of death". Any details on patching this for OS X?

The process for patching is the same on MacOS X as on other platforms: download the latest beta, then extract the zip file over the Gallery Remote installation directory.
