I've looked at some of the screenshots for Gallery 1.5, and it appears that the image formats for 1.5 only includes the popular jpgs, bmps, etc, and support for Tiff's of all kinds (uncompressed, compressed, etc) and psd (photoshop files) are missing.
Since many digital cameras can output TIFF's and Raw files natively, which will very likely be converted into PSD's during photoediting, I was wondering if Gallery 1.5 or 2 supports TIFF and PSD image formats. If not, are there plugins to do so?
I know that ImageMagick supports the transformation of tiff's, psd, etc, but most web applications ignore these formats.
I'm trying to evaluate Gallery as the online front end to a magazine image archive, and we have mostly TIFF's larger than 10 megs (to preserve quality which will ultimately go to print) or PSD's (to preserve the layer information).
I would like to use gallery in this way
1) photos are scanned as high quality tiffs or psd's, taken directly from digital cameras as high-res jpgs or tiffs
2) photos are uploaded into gallery, which will resize them for web viewing, add watermark and comments (we often upload 1 gig's worth of photos for an individual photo shoot, and there can be as many as 5 or 6 photoshoots going on at any one time)
3) the art director can look through the photos online
4) the art director selects the photos for going into print
5) the full resolution files are checked out and downloaded as zip files into the local computer for use in layout programs like InDesign or Quark
Is it possible to use Gallery in this way?

Check out G2, which will be able to do most of this.
