I'm wondering how complex - or possible - this may be:
Scenario:
FreeBSD-4.11
In /usr/home/haggis/public_html I have:
/user1/html/content
/user2/html/content
/user3/html/content
WordPress is in the root of each user webspace, /gallery is a subdirectory in each case. These are in my home directory more as a time/keystroke saver than anything else. This way I can edit/ftp stuff in an out of all user webspace(s) without concerning myself with owner:group stuff, and I'm the only admin for all 3 WP's/G2's anyway. The 3 users have completely separate WP and G2 installs, separate db's, the works.

Question:
If I want to include an album that already exists in user1.domain.tld/gallery in user2.domain.tld/gallery....but not duplicate the content (I know drives are getting larger, but still...there is a finite limit)...can I somehow create a sub album, but "call" the contents from user1.domain.tld/gallery/an_album somehow? (I thought about finding that album folder and making a symlink to the desired content, but don't want to try that until the panel issues an opinion)

Tried so far:
I tried doing a G2 common install split between the three users, but it got horribly messed up, plus I couldn't figure out how to link back from G2 to the users' WP install, based on their login, further complicated by the guests issue (who are most in need of navigation assistance, that's who it's basically there for!). Bottom line I abandoned it reluctantly, because I just couldn't get it to work as intended.

Regards & TIA,
-Colin

G2 has the feature in add items from local server using symlinks.
this will not copy the original images, but create new derivatives (thumbs/resizes).

what you can do: add the g2data/albums/ of user1 to the local upload paths of G2 of user2. then add items from local server using the symlinks checkbox.

lol, whatever.
but this is no "virtual album". this is a very unstable state. you should never change the original items in users2s G2.
