Hello all, Having a weird bit of trouble between Picasa and Gallery 2 (or more probably ImageMagick). For those who don't know, Picasa is an image management program which also has some nice photo editing features - notably it can optimise contrast and saturation in photos and rotate them to straighten out the images. It does a very good job with these but unfortunately, the saved copies of the edited images don't seem that compatible. The windows picture viewer frequently says 'Drawing failed' when showing output from Picasa, although it normally does work. Similarly, in gallery 2, a number of the images just show 'Document contains no data' in firefox - IE seems to just show the page not found error page. Currently, when I find such an image, I am having to resave the picture using Paintshop Pro, and this fixes the problem. However, I would like to know if anyone else has seen anything similar or knows how to fix it? ---- |

Hm. Can you provide a link to one of the images that gets damaged this way? And is it the original that can't be viewed? Or the resizes and thumbnails? Thanks.

This is another problem with importing Picasa pictures, though it sounds like a problem of a different nature.
My wife previously used Picasa to generate several photo gallery pages like many of those here -
http://thalions.com/alisha/photos.htm (note some of those were generated in Photoshop)
I was trying to import the Picasa albums into a Gallery2 installation using the "From Local Server" option, so I just pointed to the location of the "images" directories for the various Photoshop/Picasa albums. The Photoshop albums imported as expected with no problems. When I tried to import the pictures from the Picasa albums, however, after I clicked "submit" on the page where you select all the images to import, the browser came back with a "page not found" error. I confirmed this several times with multiple Picasa albums, and the result was the same - then I re-imported some of the Photoshop albums and it worked fine again.
Furthermore, i downloaded the pictures from the Picasa album then tried to use Gallery Remote to re-upload them. GR returned "EOF" (end of file) exceptions when trying to process the pictures.
So I can assume like in the first post that there is a problem with the Picasa generated pictures - the pictures seem to be good enough to be displayed in Windows/OS X, or through any browser, but when ImageMagik or whatever processing program G2 and GR are using, they're seeing file integrity problems.
Any ideas on how to fix this or if there is a known problem with Picasa and how it creates JPEGS?
