Was using a nightly from 04-08-05, and I get this when trying to upgrade

Quote:

Unless an answer appears in searching, I think I may revert to a backup and try to upgrade from prior to this nightly (I was at G2 Beta 1).

Solved

Chmod 666 versions.dat seems to have let me past that step. I then had problems with it being unable to remove my cache folders. I think my permissions are all screwed up. Is there any way to mass solve this?

if you have control over the box (i.e. root access), do a chmod -R 777
-R for recursively. 777 maybe overkill / unsecure, i don't know your setup.
or chown -r apacheuser g2data.

how did that happen?

Not a clue, and it's sort of a big worry.

it's in your g2data directory.
"same problem" = you wanted to upgrade and you didn't change the permissions since your last install? and what was the version of your old installation? are you on a shared webhosting plan, i.e. could it be that someone else tampered with your permissions (the admin)?
