I would like to know if it is ok to access the same G2 data and database from different websites running different installations of G2?

The reason for this is that I am running two different websites on my webserver - one is a Mambo site, and the other is a Wordpress site. I want to get embed G2 into both sites but I want both sites to display the same photos and albums.

I will only be updating the albums from one of the installations, so there is no chance that conflicting changes will be made at the same time.

Any advice would be appreciated...

Thanks - Stuart.

in your case, you don't need two Gallery installs, you need two different integrations for a single Gallery install.
take a look at the first post of the topic i linked in my forum signature. and take a look at docs/EMBEDDING.

though, there are problems:
- neither mambo nor WP integration are ready for primetime, they even lack of correct user synchronization.
- if you plan to synchronize users from mambo and WP to G2, then you have problems, because G2 isn't designed for that. it can only be mapped to the users of one external application.
- if you don't synchronize users, then your website visitors will have to create 3 accounts, one for mambo and one for G2 and one for WP. and they have to login 3 times.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not really worried about user synchronisation because I can create accounts manually for the few people that would need them. There seems to be a few methods to embedding G2 into Wordpress already but they are not that pretty. I already have G2 integrated into Mambo as a component, and apart from some minor css problems (and no user synchronisation) it seems ok.
