I use gallery Gallery v1.4.4-pl6 and sl_SI (slovenian) language translation. There is a problem, very litlle text on the site is translated. I checked in translation files and they are translated there but on the site its still english.
I use translations v1.4.4-pl4. Could this be a problem? And how could I make them work on v1.4.4-pl6 Gallery?

the lanpacks are "compatible". so all 1.4.4 langpacks work in every 1.4.4 gallery
It maybe that the phrases are marked as "fuzzy". In this case they are not translated.
You need to remove the fuzzy comment line in the .po file and then recompile the .mo file.
if you dont know how to do it, just do the corrections in the .po file(s) and send them to me. i will do the rest

Its like that:
I removed all the fuzzys from .po files and recompile them to .mo files I dont realy get it why we need .mo files cuz gallery only uses .po files (the translation worked with only .po files, but it didnt work with only .mo files)
Anyway the fuzzys didnt work. We take these 2 lines for example:
Last changed on 04/05/05. This album contains 2 items
This album has been viewed 12 times since 04/04/05.
In slovenian language it appeared like:
Last changed on 05.04.2005. Album vsebuje 2 pod-albuma/fotografiji
This album has been viewed 12 krat since 04.04.2005.
The text in red is translated in slovene. The strange thing is that other text is tanslated in .po to, for example:
#: ../albums.php:384
#, php-format
msgid "Last changed on %s."
msgstr "Zadnja sprememba: %s."
...but it didnt show on website. I tried with Deutsch and Norsk and it was the same. For example:
Last changed on 2005-04-05. Dieses Album enthält 2 Elemente. This album has been viewed 12 Mal since 2005-04-04.
So I think the problem isnt in language pack... it has to do something with the gallery or server. If you have any idea what could cause this problem let me know. Btw I use standalone Gallery.

Hello,
it seems your PHP has no gettext support or no ngettext support (for plurals).
In this case i wrote a substitute function for ngettext. But it does not work really good with plurals.
Thats the reason why some phrases are still in english.
So in your case the only solution is to install a PHP with proper (n)gettext support.
I am sorry for this. Maybe i can fix this for 1.5.1

Jens

hi,
well, it COULD be.
But this highly depends on your problem.

It is the same problem as the above some parts and plurals aren't translated. The german is ok. so it isn't from php and ngettext
