Layout and User Help

Hi guys, I’ve been thumbing through this forum for the last little while and I cannot seem to find an answer to this so I’m going to just ask.

I’m a member of the University of Alberta Ski Club; we just bought our domain (polite golf clapping) and were trying to get a fairly interactive web page going. I want to get all the scripting going first so I’m setting up both Gallery and also PHPbb forum system.

Just to establish my html is good (write it yourself slacker don’t use front page), java script is ok, php perl etc are all bad. I have no skilz, so English is always a help.

The first question I have is has anybody ever integrated Gallery 2.0 with PHPbb as far as users go. Having both of these run off the same users would be great. Would this be easier to accomplish simply by running through something like PHP nuke? My only problem is PHP nuke has so much stuff I just don’t need. I really only need gallery and forums!!

Second and way way way more importantly, pertains to layout of the gallery in question:

Now, the concept behind us running this is so people can post there picture. We are going to be dealing in fairly high volume of shots. Our trips (well the largest one) is between 300-400 people. We set up a prelim one at another friend’s sight and it has over 5000 pictures already (its gallery 1.46 I believe could be 1.5). What I would like to do is have the main header as it normally appears in the 'Matrix" layout, I enjoy how the first row of sub-albums comes up. Ideally these will be trip pictures from the ski club camera. What will then happen is people will be able to post sub albums to that trip album. Thus an album named "new years 05" can have "steves new years 05" and "jenny's new years 05" nested with in it. Ok all this is simple. Here is the more difficult portion. Rather than having to open new years 05 to get at steve and jenny's pictures I would prefer if the first row of sub albums nested in a column down the right side. The sub album under those (i.e. Steve and jenny's) went to the right of their individual sub album and had a different color back ground. So to try to explain in English. Top of gallery would be grey (like it is now) first order nested albums would also be grey (as they are now) second order nested albums would stack to the right of their "album above" in rows of 2 or 3 with a white background and then kind of "table down" from there until it had thumbs for all the sub albums displayed. Then a new table would be started for the next first order nested set, all its sub sets again grey for the major table white for its subordinates. I hope this makes sense. Does any one know how or if this can be done??

Thanks for your quick reply... Im going to photoshop an idea of what I mean quickly now just to get it out there... I get wordy some times, call it the bane of university life!!!
