Integrating phpBB user database into Gallery (1.5 RC2)

I want to import my phpBB (2.0.12) user database into the Gallery so my users don't have to register twice to use both. I'm not interested in a full integration of Gallery into phpBB, a simple user database conversion tool would really suffice. Preferably one where I can choose which board member to convert into the Gallery database.

Is there a simple way of doing this?
