This forum is in dire need of search index rebuild. And its so easy to do since its a feature with PNphpbb2. Can you please rebuild the search index so my searches are little more refined and on path. Its like a crap shoot now every time you search.

Thanks

The search engine has, sadly, had to be modified as it turns the whole site into a slow moving mess. This will be sorted when the site changes it's whole cms system.

I don't see that feature in the PNphpbb2 admin interface. But as h0bbel says, we're moving to a new CMS with its own forum where, hopefully, we'll get fulltext searching instead of this slow, lame keyword searching crap.

Hey! Thanks for the reply. You couldn't find the rebuild search in the forum admin settings? I'm using 12g and i have it .. heres a screen shot where its located on my forum admin page. :)]

Yeah .. keyword searching is a little lame. After i rebuilt my search index though.. it works pretty good on my forums. I imagine it would do that same for you. Although .. it takes quite a while since it does 1000 posts at a time and hammers the server at 100% CPU for 3-5 seconds for each 1000 posts. And i imagine it would take you guys about 5 days to rebuild this forums search index. :D Ha ha!

Well good luck on fixing that. It will be nice to have when its working right.

EDIT - I see why now. You guys are running 1.1. Thats why your search index is all jacked up and probably why you cant see the option for a rebuild. They did something to the new version where it works much better. I'm not sure the details. But that would explain. Its up to 1.2h now

Sure would be nice to have that feature! But we don't :-( If I upgrade PNphpBB2 before moving to Drupal I'll rebuild the index overnight... Thanks for the tip!

Sure. No problem. It should actually be pretty easy for you. Just upload the new PNphpBB2 module in your modules folder and activate. It will run the upgrade right there and give you a diagnostic if anything goes wrong. Worked flawlessly for me and i was using a super old school version of phpbb 2.0.1 or something (not even PNpnpbb2), and it upgraded it to 12.g no problems whats so ever.

If i put in the word "overclock" on my search in my forums .. i get 1 thread. And thats actually the only thread i have on it. So i know the search on the new version works well and doesn't pump out a big list of posts that have nothing to do with "overclock" It appears to me that your version doesn't match the whole word. So your search on these forums would turn up stuff that had "clock" or "over" and give you a bunch of bogus threads that have no relation. I'm sure you understand that though..

In any case, Thanks for the replay and great software! :)
Good luck with that once again. Ill be glad when the search works properly. :)
