upgrading nightly without the use of cvs

hey i was wondering if there is a way to upgrade the existing gallery 2 alpha 4 to the nightly versions and upgrade it every once in a while without the use of cvs because my host won't install the binaries or run the commands, thanks.

sure, just replace all gallery files but the ones in the g2 data directory. i.e. delete your current gallery2 files and install a nightly snapshot.
note: keep config.php and your g2data directory, and of course, do _not_ delete the database.

i deleted my gallery2 folder and saved my config.php and galdata folder, now do i install the gallery2 nightly snapshot and then replace the files or do i put the files into the folder and then install the nightly snapshot?

just place the files where the former gallery2 files were. and browse to your gallery in a webbrowser. the upgrader should start automatically. there's no "install process".

i all ready deleted the gallery2 directory, should i reinstall the gallery and then replace the config.php and galdata directory, will that work?

don't run the installer. just place the files from the nightly snapshot to the place where your former gallery2 files were, put the old config.php into the directory and browse to your gallery2 in a browser.

or you can force the upgrade by opening the \gallery\upgrade page directly.
