I have gotten WinCVS to work with me a bit now.

Now I can get past the login, and do the checkout, but.....

I have gallery2 in windows folder e:\gallery2 which is also the exact location of the files on my testserver (I mounted the E drive in the ntfs folder of the webroot). So I set my WinCVS to use E:\gallery2 and follow the instructions as they are on this website. Now whe n I do the checkout it seems as though the program starts downloading the entire project and it indeed creates E:\gallery2\gallery2 wherein it downloads all the files. I would like it to download into E:\gallery2 instead but I can't seem to change teh settings at all.

Back to my actual reason for posting:
I do not get one thing about CVS; what happens when I overwrite the actual files used on my localhost when the db-schema has changed in the new version I am downloading?
Does the gallery detect it has been updated and needs to change? (for example by files stating the latest version created when the gallery runs which do not get overwritten because they were not in the cvs)
Or does G2 always alike it did just an hour ago; say nothing see if it works...

Okay, the database schema does not change too often so most of the time you'll be able to check out (update) from CVS and G2 won't tell you anything, but it will be updated.

If the gallery core needs to be upgraded, you will see a "G2 Installer: Update" page next time you load G2. You'll be asked for the admin password and the core will (hopefully) upgrade itself.

Modules however, are updated more often. After each checkout go into Site Admin -> Modules and check if there are any modules that need to be upgraded to the latest version.

So basically I can just overwrite and then I will be prompted to run some conversion if needed. Adter that I just go into the modules area and see if other updates are needed?
