other language without locales

Hello,

I have a problem changing the language of my gallery. It isn't hosted by me so I can hardly change any of the configuration files. When I installed gallery, I got the message

I finished the installation, but of course additional languages didn't work. I can't change that, and it's ok. But I don't want support for multiple languages, I just want gallery in another language, in my case german. Isn't it possible to just simply change the language from english to german, without the need of locales?

some additional information:
Gallery version 1.4.4-pl2
PHP version 4.3.3
Linux kernel 2.6.8.1
Apache version 1.3.28

Hello Redshirt,

in short: no.

Because using another language then english _IS_ multilanguage support.
The reason is, that the code itself is in english an needs to be replaced be the other language.

Installing the locales is very easy and has no security risc at all.
Please install (or let install) just the de_DE locales for your system.
