I had everything working on my installtion of Gallery. It looked great! Then I decided to start poking around with the settings. I have no idea which one caused what I've experienced, I've undone EVERYTHING that I did (I'm sure of it). The front page looked completely white without frames, like the initial installation does. Then after "the incident," which is still a mystery to me, the image background changed to gray, a frame formed on the left and the layout of the images in the gallery are clearly different. I figured that this would have been caused by changing the theme, but when I went to see what I might have done, there are only two themes available: "matrix" and "valora". Neither of which proide the original format which I had from the start. This is quite annoying and may just be a bug in the alpha. If so, I understand, but I have a feeling that it is somehing which I have caused and am more than willing to accept that as a possibility. I just need to know what feature causes the entire layout to change. Thanks for any help you can provide at all! ---- |

haha, nice phrasing... "what feature causes the entire layout to change" ?? well, that would be the "layout" feature
check site admin / layouts and themes / defaults tab and check your default layout.. "matrix" is the default out of the box. your top level album is currently using "hybrid".. you may have changed the site wide default or just changed that album.. for the latter, do edit album / Album tab and set the layout.

Well, I did check, and all albums are set to "default theme" and "default layout", while the main site settings reflect "Hybrid" for the Default layout and "matrix" for the Default theme.
Is this not how it was originally setup? If not, what were they originally? I'm just looking to get it back to the way my admin page looks: no forms, all white, clean.
Thanks again!

(yes, the layout and the theme are both called matrix)
btw, there are no frames or forms in hybrid layout.. i guess you just mean the sidebar looks a little different..

If you follow the link in the original post, you'll see what I'm talking about. There is one frame for the controls, and another large one on the right for the actual albums and images. Take a look and tell me if this is normal.

yes, that's hybrid layout.. (i know since i wrote it..) i guess when it adds the scrollbar it kinda looks like frames, but it isn't.. but hit the left arrow key or click the icon near the top and it will hide the sidebar (a feature matrix layout doesn't have..)
anyway, you still need to change your default layout to Matrix if you want to get back the original layout.

You've been such great help. Thanks for sticking with that issue. Both layouts look awesome btw. I did not understand that you had to activate the layouts which you wanted to have listed in the drop down menu. That makes more sense now that I've figured that out. That's why I was saying earlier that I only had the "Hybrid" option listed.
Thanks again!
