Strange characters in filenames

I am currently using another gallery software which allows visitors to upload images.
It is difficult to control what characters they have in their file names. Being mostly on windows machines, they have all types of characters: "&, - : spaces, /" etc.

From what I see of this software so far, I am very impressed and will make the switch. Can you let me know how Gallery will handle those odd characters in filenames.

Many thanks for your advice.

Gallery does make every effort to process filenames with weird characters in them. Try it.

that my friend stands for space.. more or less they arent a problem when your system is windows and the gallery system is also based on windows..

however.. it usually is a problem when the gallery you are using is based on open source software where the codes are different.. firefox displays spaces as "%".. html see this as "&amp"..

just try to avoid copy & pasting paths and just use the gallery's system when uploading pictures..
