.htaccess & config.php can not be chmod to 644 after ins

After successful installation.

If I try to change .htaccess to 644 I get a 403 error. The most secure I can make this file without an error is 744

If I try to change config.php to 644 I get a gallery not configured php error. The most secure I can make this file without an error is 744

You may need to contact your host about this, normally it should work fine with 644
