Hey there, I think a cool feature would be to allow people who browse the album to have the option to 'subscribe' to some sort of automatic email list, that emailed them whenever the album was changed. I have no idea if this would be hard pr not. Maybe it could have options when they're subscribing, like what kinds of changes to watch? Like, photos added, or photos removed. Whether simply reordering photos was considered a change. Does this sort of thing already exist? Dan |

Oh, and what I mean exactly is that it would be in a way so a viewer doesn't have to create an account and such. Simply enter thier email address, and tadda!

It's only for logged in users that have registered, at this point.

However, there IS the RSS option. Using it folks can "subscribe" to your site and when an update occurs they'll be notified.
The nice part of RSS in Gallery is there's nothing to do on your end, no email bounces or wonky spam filters, no collecting email addresses, no hassle of managing a mailing list.
The down side is it requires your subscribers know what RSS is and they check in with it every so often.
Also, there are RSS-to0email services out there, I suppose you could provide a link to that and bridge the gap that way.

the function is very nice!!
But now after the update to version v1.5.2-pl2 i changed the properties of all my albums and the subscribtion is removed in all albums...
i dont now why bot all people must set a new mark if they want the notification...
Is this a fault of the gallery or a fault of my webserver??

Is there any kind of update on this? I host a photo album for my family and I have family member SCREAMING for a feature like this. They would like to subscribe to album updates and be notified by email whenever the album they subscribe to has new items added.

I'm glad to see this thread surface again. I've searched and searched... is it still not possible to have email notifications sent out when new items have been added?

I didn't realize this was in the G1 thread. I'm on G2 now!
