I disabled "View Count" under "Random/Popular" options, but my albums still show the view count. Howdo I remove it?

that option is only for the imageblock in the sidebar.
we don't currently have an option for displaying view count in matrix layout, so for now you'll need to make a layouts/matrix/templates/albumBody.tpl.local that omits that item (just search for "Views:")

oh, you mean your local template? look at the top of any tpl file.. the naming format is now local/albumBody.tpl instead of albumBody.tpl.local

Is this feature still missing? I want to disable view counts for specific albums only, not the entire gallery, and can't seem to find the option.

As far as I know there's no option to disable view counts for specific albums.

Wonder why that wasn't carried over from G1 ... almost a reason to downgrade. Does submitting a feature request at SF do anything? Nearly 600 there already...

submitting a feature request to sf.net will add the RFE to the list, and eventually other users will vote for it and we'll see that our users think it's important and eventually, it gets added.
not submitting a feature request will have no effect and the feature might never get implemented at all, since we're not aware that there is an actual demand.

if you file a feature request make it clear if you mean don't count for specific albums or don't display the count for specific albums (i can't tell from above). Hybrid theme in current cvs/nightlies allows you to pick whether or not to display view count in every album.

Instead of complaining about the lack of the feature, you could follow the fairly simple directions above to simply remove it from your theme. Its also possible you could code the feature and submit it as a patch, though that is quite a bit harder. The themes are very easy to customize on purpose, to allow you to get exactly what you want displayed and flexibly at that.
