It just says "installation file not found". I have verified it is going to correct directory. Has any one else got mambo intergration to work w/ this version of mambo?
I just installed the latest version of Gallery en the gallery-component in my Mambo-installation, but I just keep getting the error 'Path must be a full server path to your Gallery'.
The path to my gallery is
'/home/httpd/vhosts/robertsweb.nl/subdomains/gallery/httpdocs/' and it is on a subdomain.
Has anybody experienced this before? Or is there just no possibility of merging Mambo & Gallery together if your Gallery is on a subdomain?
I did installn Gallery into Mambo before, when it wasn't on a subdomain.
If anybody could help me out here please...
Thanks,
Robert

I've been trying to install gallery with mambo 4.5.1. I still new to this CMS and as such need help to incorporate this software.
The last time I installed a modue (Simpleboard) all I had to do was to install a new compontent adminstration > Components > Install/ Unistall. Point to the appropriate zip file and the forum was up and running.
I before I installed this zip file I did find the earlier post which said:
signe wrote:
No... Mambo changed the format of their xml file in 4.5.1.
So I thought the problem was with the gallery.xml file which I replaced with the revised code from the above link. I then added this to existing gallery zip file and tried to install this again.
Can anyone suggest where I am going wrong?
Cheers

Gallery can not be installed using Mambo's "upload component" method. You have to install Gallery on its own, and then point Mambo at the XML file that's already on your server in the gallery/contrib/mambo directory.

Hi,
I've been struggling with the installation of Gallery 1.4.4-pl4 (with netpbm) with Mambo Server 4.5.1a on Linux OS for a week or so. I have successfully installed Gallery onto my site on it's own. I then go into Mambo Administration and select Install/Uninstall Components, then install from directory, point to the <system path>/gallery/contrib/mambo directory (where I have the updated gallery.xml file as posted earlier in this thread) and click install.
this all yields "Upload new component - Error" Installation file not found:
<system path>/gallery/contrib/mambo/
Any ideas? I've tried messing around with permissions, but I think they should be ok.

Ok, I have the gallery up and working but can't seem to find a way to install it into mambo. How do I point Mambo at the xml file?
Thanks in advance

Ok, here's what I've discovered (Gallery 1.4.4 and Mambo 4.5.1a)
1. Install both Gallery and Mambo and make sure they work on their own.
2. Grab the contrib/mambo folder, grab the xml file link from an earlier post and replace the xml file in the contrib/mambo folder (for this file, when you follow the link, DON'T copy and paste, do a file>save as. Not sure why but the first didn't work for me while the second did.)
3. Zip up the mambo folder
4. Log into Mambo Admin, do a components>install
5. go into Components>Gallery and put in your absolute path (if you don't know it, look in Site>Global Configuration, it's listed there) to gallery
6. Create a menu item, select component, Gallery
7. Go to your mambo page (ie not admin) and log in
8. Click on your gallery link and you should see all the admin functions
It all works well, *except* when I go to add pictures, it opens a new window and forces me to log into gallery again, where I expected it to be integrated with mambo, so something clearly isn't warking as it should. Any suggestions?

I thought the point was that it would let anyone with a certain level of permission in Mambo edit Gallery? Why would the user even need a gallery account?
I'm installing 1.5, I'll see if that sorts it out.

1. Install both Gallery (1.5, get it from http://galleryupdates.jpmullan.com/ ) and Mambo (4.5.1a) and make sure they work on their own.
2. Grab the contrib/mambo folder, grab the xml file link from an earlier post and replace the xml file in the contrib/mambo folder (for this file, when you follow the link, DON'T copy and paste, do a file>save as. Not sure why but the first didn't work for me while the second did.)

First, if you're downloading Gallery 1.5, use the XML file that comes with it. Don't replace it.
Second - why do you zip the folder? It's unnecessary.

Hey there,
First off.. thanks to all for the great installation information. I've got it running great, but my Gallery is empty. Which brings me to ask this:
Where in Mambo's Administrator does one create and add to albums?
Can it even be done in Administrator, or is the standalone Gallery to be used to add items? Thanks so much,

Hey Kai,
Thanks for the help so far. I'm in the "Super Administrator" group and logged in; and have designated "-> Administrator" in the Gallery Component Admin Level and still don't see where to add/create anything.
Where should the controls appear? Thanks again!

Hi,
login to the Mambo frontend as admin and choose the Gallery component from your menu. You should see a dropdown box "Admin options" or a link "new album".

Darn,
Nothing is working as I feel it should (apologies). To whit:
- I installed the "Latest Stable Version of Gallery 1" (gallery-1.4.4-pl4.tar.gz) with Mambo 4.5.1a
- I downloaded the new "gallery.xml" from the post above (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/...)
- I was able to set up Gallery via the dropdown menu "Components > Gallery" (Path is correct, Admin Level is correct, Hiding Right-hand module)
And that's it... I don't see where any controls are, as "Components > Gallery" only lets me configure the above 3 items. I don't log in to the Admin from the front end (if that matters), I go directly to www.website.com/mambo/administrator. Also, I made sure that the Admin login/password were identical in the Gallery login as in the Mambo login.
Any idea why I see no controls? Again, I was able to configure Gallery and create a Menu Item in Mambo that displays it... but I cannot edit it in any way.
Thanks again,

Hey there,
My fault, all. I didn't know that one couldn't control Gallery whilst logging in via the Administrator link. Apparently, one need to log in on the website front end (and since I had originally removed the "Login Form" menu, this wasn't possible). Alas, I've added it back and will use Gallery in that fashion.
Thanks!

Hi,
just for info, if you don't want to show the Login Form on your site unpublish it an create a new menuitem to your Mainmenu - Component - Login.
This will generate a link to login.

I am able to add photos and edit the albums easily from the front-end admin in Mambo - awesome!
When I try and access the configuration wizard I am sent to a strange login page titled "Gallery Configuration". I've tried logging in with all the admin usernames and passwords that would apply and each receives "You must log in as an administrator to edit this server's configuration." Once you embed Gallery does it turn access to the configuration wizard off? Is there a way around this?
FYI - I have Gallery storing its albums in /mamboroot/images/stories/albums so that I can access my photos in any Mambo content. This sweet tip is from the MamboForum (probably from Jim G). I wouldn't think that this would effect the config wizard but I mention it here for completeness. Otherwise this is a vanilla Mambo 4.5.1a + Gallery v1.4.4-pl4 install with the Gallery Component from gallery-addons.com.

gsbe, please start your own thread when you have a problem instead of adding to an existing one.
Your answer is this; You have to log in as a *Gallery* admin, not as a Mambo admin. (e.g. using 'admin' and the password you created during install)

I tried admin, in fact I tried every combination of admin and the superadmin username that I'm using in Mambo. There are no users that are recognized by the Gallery login. I verified this by trying the "email password" feature.
I looked for a userlist in the Gallery DB but there is no such thing - in fact there is no data in my Gallery DB. I looked in the .user folder in my albums location and didn't find any usernames there, either. Could they somehow have been deleted? As I mentioned, editing the Gallery while logged into the Mambo front-end works fine and I do have my album sitting inside literally inside Mambo (mamboroot/images/stories/albums/). I would like to edit my configuration and this isn't possible within Mambo as far as I can tell.
Sorry to continue the conversation in this thread...I thought this was a general Mambo thread and wasn't sure if this is a common problem.

I had the same problem after copying the albums folder to the /images/stories directory via FTP. Using the shell to copy the albums folder solved the problem - in my case. Not sure, maybe FTP has changed the owner of the files?
Now I'm using a symbolic link to the albums directory: http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=104381&highlight=#104381

I think that was a meta tag in the html put in by the html editor.

I tried to use a template that was shipped with mabo for the whole site with the same result.

We use the gallery embedded inside Mambo.
Dont remember exactly how I installed the component ( was not straightforward - think I found a link to an xml file in some forum...)
The code of the component php file is the folowing:
----
/*
* $Id: gallery.php,v 1.2 2004/03/21 17:09:29 jenst Exp $
*/
defined( '_VALID_MOS' ) or die( 'Direct Access to this location is not allowed.' );
/* load the html drawing class */
$database->setQuery("SELECT * FROM #__gallery");
$param = $database->loadRowList();
/* extract params from the DB query */
$MOS_GALLERY_PARAMS = array();
foreach ($param as $curr) {
$MOS_GALLERY_PARAMS[$curr[0]] = $curr[1];
}
if (!realpath($MOS_GALLERY_PARAMS['path'])) {
echo _("Security Violation");
exit;
} else {
if (! defined("MOS_GALLERY_PARAMS_PATH")) {
define ("MOS_GALLERY_PARAMS_PATH",$MOS_GALLERY_PARAMS['path']);
}
}
should do the trick in your template html file (minor change, cause of problems with admin-section)
@deoman:
might be a probelm with your ammbo installation... i think the gallery is looking for the hostname when trying to build the links.... but can't help you there.... i'm not using windows

It appears that the 4.5.1version of gallery is missing the installation and uninstallation files for mambo.
install.gallery.php
uninstall.gallery.php

No... Mambo changed the format of their xml file in 4.5.1.
You can download the correct gallery.xml from http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/gallery/gallery/contrib/mambo/gallery.xml?rev=1.3

bruce_np- is your problem fixed? Everything seems to line-up now when I visit your site.

The problem is not quite fixed - but we found a workaround:
we included a reload the first time the galery is opended.
Not nice but it seems to work ;)
But if you are still interested in the problem, I think I can reproduce it.

Ok, because many people asked how we did it at ninjutsu.at:
so here's the quite terrible hack ^^
just put this peace of code on top of your template file:
that's it, easy but not the best....
ok, i just figured aut, that the stupid delete function deletes 2 images if u relode the site, so:
i turend the error messages off, so i don't know if there occurs a warning... try it out and cahnge some lines if needed....

I´ve problem to get that code to work for me :cry:
Is it anything I have to change in the code to work with my site?
The template file that is to be changed, is it the Mambo template or a file in the Gallery?:roll:
Think the "Hack-code" is a good way to solve the problem! :D

I also have som problems. Im using Gallery 1.5RC1
I have integrated it into Mambo 4.5.2 and when i click the gallery link, i get the mainpage from my usual gallery.
BUT; the links are all wrong; when i click a picture, the link looks like this:
http://index.php/?set_albumName=imagecatalogue&option=com_gallery&Itemid=42&include=view_album.php
the link is missing my domain name!
Strangely, some links got my domain name...
Ive checked the MySQL database, and the full path for the Gallery is there.
What am i doing wrong?
Running Apache 2 on WinXP
Path to Gallery:
C:\Programfiler\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\gallery
Could it be something with apache config? or the system not liking spaces in the path? or... im just confuzed

should do the trick in your template html file (minor change, cause of problems with admin-section)
@deoman:
might be a probelm with your ammbo installation... i think the gallery is looking for the hostname when trying to build the links.... but can't help you there.... i'm not using windows
@bluebiker:
xandl == scox
bruce_np = xandl.ninjutsu.sensei ^^

Thanx, Scox for your reply.
But I´m a dumbass and it is still not working for me.
I´v tried to add that code at the top of my template file in mambo and a error code show:"Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING"
The same error shows if i´m adding the same code at the top of index.php in Gallery. Is it another file in Gallery that has to be changed?
In which template file are you adding that code? the mambo-template or the gallery-template?

Quick question - can the gallery use the Mambo database? (same database, username, password) - or does it HAVE to use its own?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Gallery v1 doesn't use a database at all, so that's not an issue.

I have a couple of questions for you:
Is this the code I need to use?
if ($_GET['option']=="com_gallery" && !isset($_GET['rlcoe'])) {
if (!isset($_REQUEST['action']) || $_REQUEST['action'] != "delete") {
$goto = "Location: " . $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']. "?" . $_SERVER['argv'][0] . "&rlcoe=1";
header($goto);
}
}
Also, which document do I put this code into? Can you tell me a directory/filename to be looking for? Thanks in advance, clorox

You put the code on top of Mambos template-index file.
The Code that worked for me was:
<?php
global $_REQUEST;
// Gallery Hack
if ($_GET['option']=="com_gallery" && !isset($_GET['rlcoe'])) {
if (!isset($_REQUEST['include']) || ereg("view", $_REQUEST['include'])) {
$goto = "Location: " . $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']. "?" . $_SERVER['argv'][0] . "&rlcoe=1";
header($goto);
}
}
?>
Hope you get it to work.

Ok I tried this file:
/html/templates/index.html
and also my current (modified) template
/html/templates/rhuk_solarflare/index.html
and neither one worked. Can you give me the filename and directory structure I should be editing? Thanks so much!

Don´t know why it is not working for you.
The index-file is the one in your:
/html/templates/rhuk_solarflare/index.html
