I have just installed gallery and downloaed gallery remote to upload the files. I set my url, password and user name and then tried to connect to add albums and pictures but I get the following error in a pop up box from Gallery Remote.
The gallery_remote2.php file exists in the gallery directory on my server. Could you tell me what I overlooked? :o |

Also when I type the url that it said gallery could not be found at into my browser, I get this message in IE
This page is not meant to be accessed from your browser. If you would like to use Gallery Remote, please refer to Gallery's website located at http://gallery.sourceforge.net
I am using gallery 1.4.4pl4 and downloaded the latest gallery remote.

I've been using Gallery 1.4.4 and GalleryRemote 1.4 for some time without a hitch.
I recently changed laptops and went to re-install GalleryRemote and now I have the same problem.
The only thing that I know changed is the version of the JVM on my old LT was 1.4, my new LT has 1.5.
Could it be related to the JVM?

I'm running Windows2000, Apache 2.0.52, mySQL 4.0.20 and PHP 4.3.8 on my test server.
I put up a completely new installation of phpNuke 7.4 and Gallery 1.4.4. I made sure the php.ini had register_globals set to ON and I am still having this same problem.
I don't know what else could have changed. I'm pretty sure I had this exact same configuration running just a few months back.
Could a W2K/XP patch have bitten me?

hey everyone,
I have been encountering this same issue. So I decided to nail down the problem. I read through all of the FAQ's and troubleshooting helps and hints. It finally turned out to be in the /etc/php.ini file. The "user_tmp_dir" needed a value to a valid directory. I just added the "/tmp/php" for it's value and it worked. :D

This didn't work for me, the GR used to work just fine, but then I updated to win xp sp2 and a whole lotta stuff quit working right. I'm getting the exact same problem, says gallery url not found but it logs into the server just fine, but can't upload anymore. I can't find an /etc/php.ini file anywhere, either on my client (which is win xp so i didn't think i'd find /etc/, but thought i might find php.ini but no go) or on my server, since I don't own my server, can't get into the etc files, is there somewhere else this can be fixed?
thanks, kym

I updated two sites (one my Win2000/Apache and the other a hosted site) with Gallery 1.4.4-pl4 and everything started working again.
I don't use the Embedded/phpNuke configuration for Remote, I use Standalone, but it still works.

Running: IIS 5, PHP 4, G2
I am having the problem with the gallery remote with both the web tool and the remote tool. I've tried doing the user_tmp_dir mentioned above and it didn't help... any other suggestions?
Cheers,
Quentin

The gallery_remote2.php file exists in the gallery directory on my server.
Got to this thread for the solution: http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=112360#112360

I was getting the same error message running LAMP. My problem was that with my new digital camera, my file sizes are larger. php.ini has a predefined limit of 2M.
upload_max_filesize = 2M
I changed it to 4M, restarted Apache and now it's working again.

Hi,
I think I have a similar problem.
I've installed Gallery for a client and it works fine. I can login on my machine using Gallery Remote and view all their albums/add photos etc. Anyway I installed it on their machine last month and it worked fine they managed to upload some photos and view their albums etc.
Now they've wiped their hard drive and have had to reinstall everything from scratch. They've installed Gallery Remote again but when they enter their login information it says "Error: Server contacted, but Gallery could not found at this url ". I've gone over the details with them and they're correct. I can connect fine on my machine using the exact same details so I can't work out why they can't. I even got them to copy and paste the URL from the Gallery Remote URL Options screen into their browser window and it worked.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
James

I have just installed Gallery on Ubuntu Linux 5.10. When I try to locate the phpinfo.php file, I get the dreaded 404 message - Not Found. I entered the following address:
http://server_name/var/lib/gallery/setup/phpinfo.php
The file is definitely there. I am running Apache 1.3.33 at Linux port 80.
Any suggestions most welcome.

I had this problem but, scroll down on this page and try downloading and installing the Remote module:
http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Download
after I did this it fixed the problem.

Thanks. I'll try this

I think the problem is that the remote application has been upgraded by the developer, but the module for download on this site is incompatible (an older version)
