I have Gallery v1.3.1 integrated into my Invision 1.0.1 Bulletin Board's user database. I login to my board and access the gallery and I can upload photos to albums and everything, but my Gallery Remote v1.0b4 and the v1.0b12 (i upgraded to the unofficial version to see if it would solve the problem) each say "Invalid login information in the status bar when I attempt to Fetch Albums with my Admin username and Admin password.

My local computer is running Windows XP Professional SP-1 with Sun's Java (website's server runs Stable Linux Red Hat 7.3 with Apache). Is this problem still happening to people or is there something I could try? Thanks in advance.

I've included party of my log info if this helps:

It seems to be a somewhat common problem. In the <!-- BBCode Start --><A HREF="http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&amp;name=phpBB_14&amp;file=index&amp;action=viewtopic&amp;topic=1285&amp;5" TARGET="_blank">next-most-recent thread</A><!-- BBCode End --> in this forum, it's been reported on Macs, Windows, and Linux.

At least two of us have gotten instant relief by switching from Sun's 1.3.1 version of the JVM to 1.4.1.

I will caution, though, that going to 1.4.1 might be trading one problem for others. I've been hearing a lot of complaints about bugs in (the current) version 1.4.1_01 in particular. A number of people have been complaining that the Java browser plugin 1.4.1_01 doesn't seem to work right if at all (this would mainly be an issue for MSIE 6). Others, including myself, have been unable to get 1.4.1_01 running at all on some Windows machines; the rumor I heard was that it had to do with ATI video systems (I've also heard the rumor that the very latest ATI driver fixes the problem). I dunno; I uninstalled 1.4.1_01 and installed 1.4.0 and have been running merrily.

Anyway, if you have the bandwidth or time to spare, I'd recommend trying the 1.4.0 JVM first. I haven't tried it with Gallery Remote, but I suspect it'd work.

DougP, thanks for the tips.

Awhile ago I downloaded the Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE), featuring the latest Sun Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and Sun's Java Web Start. When I open the Java Web Start Application and go to File->Preferences->Java Tab it shows the Java Runtime Versions that are enabled. I have the 1.3.1_04 and 1.4.1 versions enabled.

When you were referring to browsers, I have MSIE 6.0.2600. I don't think that I'll download the 1.4.1_01 version since I'm hearing there a bunch of problems. On Gallery the uploading from the browser option and upload from location work just fine for me, so GR is not too much of a problem for me if it doesn't work. Thanks for the comments though.

I just wanted to report that beta 12 is working fine for me on a Win2k system with Java 1.3.1 from Sun.

I just noticed on <!-- BBCode Start --><A HREF="http://https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=7130&amp;release_id=122943" TARGET="_blank">SourceForge.Net</A><!-- BBCode End --> that GR 1.0 Production has been released since yesterday

I didn't mean to release GR 1.0 yesterday, thanks for pointing it out, I've hidden the release (it will be released concurrently with 1.3.2). You guys don't care anyway, you're using the latest betas

Regarding your problem, m3kamikaze, there could be two reasons:

<LI> in the log, the second and third gallery URLs have null usernames. This was due to the 1.0 preview/Java 1.3 bug. Upgrading to Java 1.4 doesn't mean that the URLs (and username/passwords) you had entered previously will start to work. To remove them, edit them out of your GalleryRemote.properties (the ReadMe.html will tell you where that file is).
<LI> Try to go in a web browser to the URL that you gave to GR (http://your.site.com/gallery most likely) and try to log in with the username and password you gave GR. It's possible that the integration with Invision's user database doesn't when accessing Gallery directly (not embedded into Invision).

Hope this helps...[/]
