I am having problems with the applet loading. I know Java and I think I am having mental blocks. Here is the error I get fromt he control panel: Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.4.2_04 Using JRE version 1.4.2_04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM load: class com.gallery.GalleryRemote.GRAppletSlideshow not found. java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.gallery.GalleryRemote.GRAppletSlideshow at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.loadCode(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.createApplet(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.createApplet(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Caused by: java.net.UnknownHostException: www.roadracers.org at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.NetworkClient.doConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpClient.doConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.<init>(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.<init>(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpClient.<init>(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.createConnection(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at java.net.HttpURLConnection.getResponseCode(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.getBytes(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.access$100(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) ... 10 more load: class com.gallery.GalleryRemote.GRAppletMini not found. java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.gallery.GalleryRemote.GRAppletMini at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.loadCode(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.createApplet(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.createApplet(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Caused by: java.net.UnknownHostException: www.roadracers.org at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.NetworkClient.doConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpClient.doConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.<init>(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.<init>(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpClient.<init>(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.createConnection(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at java.net.HttpURLConnection.getResponseCode(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.getBytes(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.access$100(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) ... 10 more I am guessing that I am missing some configuration. Looks like it is trying to find the file in the wrong directory. This is embedded in phpNuke 7.3. There is the website: www.roadracers.org |

I am unable to find the GalleryRemote.txt file. I am guessing that it is in a part of the server that I have no access too.

It's on the client

I am still not having any luck finding the file.
Just some interesting information. I only have this download problem on my work computer. When I am at home, it downloads fine. So there must be a setting on my computer that is not allowing it to download, or possibly the network itself. Any clues as to what to look for would be helpful. Thanks

It's very possible a firewall is blocking the applet. Can you use any other applets from work?

Nope just looked around the web, found a few java applet games. None of them load.

Then you should reinstall Java...

I have been wrestling with this problem for days. I've reinstalled Java. I've upgraded Gallery and upgraded, reinstalled... Reinstalled Gallery Remote from the nightly builds. I can't figure out how to fix this. I get the same error in IE and Firefox. Please help! Here's the error I'm getting:

Just another side comment to this. I have another older Gallery slideshow on the same host that loads and works fine. It's only the newer version of the slideshow applet that's not working. Also, the links on the slideshow when logged in as admin are not resolving either, so I think it's something to do with the urls that are constructed on the slideshow page that's creating the problem. Everything else seems to be working fine. I played with galleryBaseUrl and baseUri in the config file to try to solve it, but it only made bad matters worst. I don't have enough knowledge of Gallery to understand how to correct this. I'm not using url rewrite. Has anyone solved this problem? Pam

I finally got this working and thought I should post this for anyone else who may be having this problem.
Here are my lessons learned:
Download recent upgrades in the order that they are listed from:
http://galleryupdates.jpmullan.com/
In my case, I upgraded the applets, wouldn't work. Upgraded Gallery, wouldn't work. Then, realized I should probably upgrade the applets again after upgrading Gallery, and whalla! problem solved!
Also, there's no instructions on the download page, hopefully someone can be more specific than I (or correct what I got wrong), but what I discovered is that the applet files need to uploaded to your gallery2/slideshowapplet/applets directory and also to the gallery2/uploadapplet/applets directory.
Now, if you choose to upgrade Gallery using one of the nightly builds on galleryupdates.jpmullan.com, you'll need to upgrade the applets again - and problably the rest as well. The nightly build that I got wrote over the upgraded files with older versions - bake to square one!
The gallery_remote_applets_1.5.1-b17.zip files are for the client-side - wish I knew that in the beginning.
I think it would be really helpful if there were some updated README files in these downloads to tell users what to do with them. It would also be helpful to have a search in the forums that worked better!
Good luck! (I still have a little bit of my hair left, so there is hope!

I have been running into the same issue with the upload applet.
It seems to me that such an issue requiring manual intervention (i.e. anything beyond having the administrator install a plug-in through the Site Admin interface) should be considered a bug, yes?
I am using the latest version of everything I can think of client-side (Firefox 2.0.0.7, Java JRE 1.6.0_02).
