Hey guys 'n' gals,
I'm just curious what everyone else uses to actually manage a large collection of photos. I currently have 1400 on my site - and ALOT more on my HDD at home, and since I'm just about to arrive back from a 10 month trip around the world I'm investigating a soltion for holding the photos on my machine when I get back. (I think I'll be hitting the 10gig mark).
I need a system that not just holds the photos (since that's what I've got with my simple directory filing system at the mo), but also lets me attatch info to the photos, e.g. location, people etc. Viewing them of course would be needed and doing _basic_ manipulation would be good too.
So what do you guys use?
And of course - it needs to be running under Linux.
Thanks,

..I use gallery exclusively for managing my photo collection (15gb's/31609 pics..) - moving the albums around is painful (can be slow in some of the subnested directories) but otherwise it works fine for me..

I use ACDSee for offline photo management. IMO, it is one of the best programs out there.
