CSS - Comments Alignment?

First off thanks to JadeDragon & floridave for sorting out my recent query with regard to CSS alignment.

I have another small problem (I'm assuming CSS related?), this time when viewing latest comments the From: and actual comment text are clearly out of alignment with the rest of the text on screen. I've posted a screenshot to help illustrate.

As always thanks for the great help and support provided on the Gallery forums.

Regards,

Mark

Do "view source" to see what classes are being used for the areas you want to change, then check in the css for padding and or margin issues that could be the problem. That's what it looks like to me.

Thanks PixelPoet for your advice, I did as you recommended, took a look at 'View Source' through my browser but I'm still at a loss.

Below is the snippet of code (viewed through 'View Source') which I think is relevant to my problem:

<tr><td width="105"><span class="fineprint">Upload Date:</span></td><td><span class="fineprint">10/06/04</span></td></tr><tr><td width="105"><span class="fineprint">Viewed:</span></td><td><span class="fineprint">4 times></span></td></tr></table><br clear=all><br clear=all><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%" border="0" align="left" class="fineprint"><tr><td colspan="3" width="105"><span class="fineprint">Comment:</span></td></tr><tr><td width="8"></td><td colspan="2"><span class="fineprint">From:&amp;Mark&amp;(10/06/04 at 16:14:25)</span></td></tr><tr><td width="8"></td><td width="8"></td><td width="98%"><span class="fineprint">Dave, did you ever get to visit here when you wre in Canada Life!</span></td></tr></table><br clear=all><br clear=all><span class="fineprint">
<a  id="popuplink_1" target="Edit"

It appears, (I cold be wrong here!) that the two lines I am trying to align are part of the larger block of text and linked to the one CSS class, i.e. 'fineprint'?. I located 'fineprint' in my 'embedded_style.css' file and added the following combinations:

.fineprint /* used for fine print */
	{
	  font-size: 10px;
	  padding-left:0px;
	  padding-right:0px;
	  margin-left: 0pt;
      margin-right: 0pt;

Although the values above are zero I did play around with a combination of options but to no avail as in all instances the entire block of text moved either to the right or left & not just the two lines I'm interested in. Is it possible that possibly a new CSS function would need to be introduced just to control these two lines on their own?.

I've attached a screenshot showing what I was experiencing when the entire block of text was aligning right or left (ignore the values as this is just for illustration).

Many thanks for your assistance.

Regards,

Mark

Hi

The problem is within the way the table is set up - you'll notice there are 2 or 3 cells in some of the table rows. That's what is causing the layout to fit together like it does currently. Problem is I don't know what those cells are for - perhaps part of a skin layout?

JadeDragon did a tut on the css I believe (she's the one that did all the table set up for the skins and the css, so she can probably untangle this better than I can).

It's not just a css thing, if it was it would be an easy fix.

I'd play around with the table layout if I were you. Maybe put a border to it so you can see what's happening.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

:(

Manitoba,
Is this the results from stats.php?
If it is then this is the designed layout. You will notice that the comments from the name are indented slightly and the header ("comments") is aligned left.

If you add a few comments I think you see the results will be easier to read.

If this is not the layout you desire you will have to mod stats.php table layout to your desires.

So, in stats.php the comments are rendered with:

function displayComment( $comment )
{
   echo "<tr><td width=\"8\"></td><td colspan=\"2\"><span class=\"fineprint\">From:&amp;" . $comment->getName(). "&amp;(". $comment->getDatePosted().")</span></td></tr>";
   echo "<tr><td width=\"8\"></td><td width=\"8\"></td><td width=\"98%\"><span class=\"fineprint\">".$comment->getCommentText()."</span></td></tr>";

Note the: width=8. and then the: From:
then 2 cells with a width=8 and then the comment.
Play with these values to get your desired results.

Was hoping to post back sooner but was dragged away from my PC today to the great outdoors as the weather was so nice...

floridave, what can I say but good man yourself you cracked it for me and guessed correctly that it was stats.php I was playing around with.

I now have all the text nicely aligned, I played around with the code above as you suggested and after a couple of mins everything was looking just perfect.

floridave, I just want to say a special thanks to you as I posted a number of queries this week and you helped me out big time, I really appreciate it...

PixelPoet, thanks also to you for helping me too...

Regards,

Mark

Manitoba,
When the weather is nice in Ireland you have to take advantage of it... they are few and far between. But even on a bad day the scenery is nice.
Last time I was there is rained every day.
... But still enjoyed the scenery and hospitality.

Too true floridave!, it's rare the sun shines - I'm guessing that the 'Great White North' refers to Canada? - I'm relocating to Winnipeg in about a month's time for approx. a year - hence the Manitoba reference.

Am just making sure my gallery is ready to rock before I hit it with some serious photos whilst in Canada!. :D

Of course I'll be still tuning into the site & forums!...

Cheers!
