Running Gallery 2.x & 1.x at the same time?

I want to test out the CVS for Gallery 2.x on our server. I'm very interested in seeing this release come out to accommodate our almost 13,000 picture gallery. Currently we run 1.x, and I'd like to run 2.x but use the images that 1.x uses. So I'm wondering, is it possible for both installations to share the same image folder? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

G1 and G2 will not be able to share data. G2 is radically different from G1 (and that's a good thing). You can run them at the same time, but you'll have to have multiple versions of your data.
