"Auto Login", "Remember Me" function

I searched the entire forum and found only one post about this by raydavis http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=9952&highlight=autologin but this patch seems to be obsolete since there is a file taht no longer is used on latest gallery version.
I am looking for something like that commonly used check box saying that no login info would be necesary on next visit (like this forum has), that topic had the patch for an old version, I was wondering if anyone knew how to implement this into gallery...
