continual installer problems (related to JRE?)

i am having continual problems with java and the installer for gallery remote. i haven't used the program mainly because i can't get it to install! :(

i am running sun jre v1.4.2_03 on Windows 2000 SP4 and the gallery remote v1.3.1 release.

heyo...

on a whim, i played around and used winRAR to extract the executable archive. after doing so, i ran \Windows\InstallGalleryRemote.exe and it seems to have installed everything fine now.

i have been able to login and manipulate my albums, so i think we are ok for now.

it would appear the problem is specific to the self-extracting installer.
