.htaccess Entry?

My .htaccess file inside my gallery directory has no entry in it. However, my installation keeps telling me that .htaess is not obeying some rule, and that mod_rewrite needs to be enabled?

Do I need to put anything in my .htaccess file for my gallery to work properly?

Give us your Gallery/webserver information to get a faster answer.
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).

Don't worry too much.
If the rules aren't being obeyed, then your .htaccess file will stay empty. You won't be able to use short URLs in your Gallery, for example, but that's entirely optional.
