exif_gps extend : search photos by city name

my name is Olivier, i used gallery3 3 days ago, and i have to say that it rocks

For my own needs, i have customize the exif_gps module to be able to search photos using the city name, here are the steps :
1. Add coutrny & city name when reading exif gps tags (i use a webservice for that)
2. Append county & city name in search records table (using events)

i'd like to release that tweak as a module but i wonder if i should create a new module or publish a new version of the existing module ?
