I've got a problem and I can't find the answer; maybe someone can help. I just upgraded from Gallery 2.3.1 to Gallery 3.0.9. When I started the import of my photos (37,219), the import would run for about 30 minutes, and then would stall. When I clicked pause, I'd get the "Dang...Something went wrong" message. I would have to wait about 12 minutes before I could even log back in to resume. I tried everything I could, and searched to no end for a solution, but found none. I finally got all the photos imported (3 days). Now I have the same problem when I run any task on Gallery3 (Update Search Index, Fix your Gallery, etc. Now it takes 20 minutes or more before I can access Gallery3 after it locks up. I'm about ready to uninstall Gallery3 and stick with Gallery2. Is it me, or is Gallery3 full of bugs? Any help would be appreciated. I've really got a lot of work to do on my website, and this is holding me up. More information: http://www.smythcountyjam.com/gallery3/index.php/admin/maintenance I've contacted my website host (Startlogic) many times, and they say that they are not responsible for 3rd party applications and will not try to help. I've tried changing the settings for admin_area_timeout 5400 and lock_timeout: 1 to other settings, and still get the same problem. I deleted most of the logs, but during the import, this was the last line in the log file: Task Import from Gallery 2 cancelled (task id 11). Please help if you can. Thanks, |

Why... that would have at least helped a little bit.
What do you mean by " I can access Gallery3 after it locks up". Can you not access the site at all? Other pages on the site? If so that would be a host issue.
G3 is not for everybody perhaps your happy with G2 and should stay with it.

The reason I deleted most of the logs was because there were about 50 of them from failed imports. They were identical with the exception of the file names. I could see no reason to keep them as I thought I didn't need them anymore since I had deligently worked for days by resumming the import after the timeout. I Thougt all the albums and photos had gotten imported; WRONG!
I meant CAN'T access Gallery3 (typo). It may be a host issue; but how am I supposed to figure that out? I chatted with Startlogic 7 times over this, and the only thing they tried was to change the PHP version to a later version. This helped the situation, but it did not fix the problem.
I could access all pages on the site except for the gallery3. It was the only one I was locked out of which makes me think it is a G3 issue. Startlogic turned it over to their engineers, but I haven't heard anythig from them yet.
Now that the import finally finished, I found out that many of the albums and photos didn't import. All the information did(tags, views, etc.) but no photos. It would take more time than I've got to figure out which albums have missing photos. And all the photos were named consistantly so the names should not have anything to do with the failed imports. Maybe the file size was a problem. I don't know that is why I asked for help. It's apparant that you don't want to help.
You are probablly correct G3 many not be for me since it appears to be still full of bugs. I got the impression that it was a vast improvement over G2. That doesn't appear to be the case though. The sad part is that I have wasted 4 days trying to get this mess to work.
I see no option left but to uninstall G3 and use G2 until I can find a better option.
If I was HAPPY with G2, I wouldn't have installed G3 in the first place.

Seems you've made up your mind already and I'm not about to volunteer more.

I still don't understand why you responded in the first place if you had no intentions of helping. You didn't even try to help me! If I was you, I wouldn't volunteer to help anyone as you obviously don't have the attitude to deal with people who need help. If you had a hand in designing G3, I guess it just hurt your ego that it still has issues. Yes, I have made up my mind due to the fact that G3 will not work and I have no way, on my own, to fix it. Thanks again for all your help with this issue.
God bless,
Larry
